Long Pallet Deck 101

Step 1:Obtaining a pallet or two.

We purchased 3 sheets of gyprock which were loaded onto the roof of the van with… a beautiful 6m long, hard wood pallet. As it worked out our shed just happened to be 6m long also. Hmmmm… thought Luke.

We have also found another way to get pallets. Bunnings! Go to your nearest Bunnings or hardware and just ask. Usually they are more than happy for you to take a few from out the back (except the red or green ones). They won’t help you lift them onto the roof of the van in the middle of a hot day in the blinding white pavement out the back of the warehouse though. Found my 1RM.

Step 2: Footings

Dig some holes, insert uprights, concrete them in and check they are level.

Step 3: Moving the pallet

Invite 10 or so friends, neighbours, rellies over for lunch but ask them for a quick lift first. Give clear instructions and bend your knees. De-nail pallet if required and remove boards from one side.

Step 4: Fixing

Mount pallet onto footings. Fix there.

Use the removed boards to fill in the pallet top.

Belt sand and paint for a finished look. And add a bar and bench for an arvo chillout. Offer your helpers a drink.

This sweet, soft thing has been with us for 4 weeks now, steadily putting on between 600gm and a kg each week!

We have also been helping look after her little sister Joyce.

These pups possibly have the best life ever. Play, eat, sleep (cuddling each other being stupidly cute).

They have learnt to be great with loud noises. Sleeping through the sound of nail guns, drop saws and hammer drills. Fireworks too actually. And now that I think of it, the vet visit. Perhaps its not the loud noises.

Kelpie/Dingo x Border Collie, Gypsy has short hair and longer legs, Joycie is fluffier and smaller (she’s the runt). They have a brother (Django) and sister (Gurfy) down the road so they all go turkey watching together.

We ordered the model with extras. Comes with extra claw (dewclaw), ninth nipple and heart decal. Very happy with the choice.

Despite all the sleeping pics we have been very busy here.
